Analytics and ads load by default
A first visit with no saved choice is treated as granted. Before the banner appears, the page records that default in localStorage (not a cookie) and loads Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra. The banner then explains what is running and offers Accept and Reject. Reject is a real withdrawal: it rewrites the record to denied, sets every Google Consent Mode signal to denied, and stops the Google Analytics 4, Clarity and Adsterra tags, so a reload makes no request to any of them. The choice is remembered for 180 days. Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track (DNT) are read before anything loads and are treated as Reject.
The banner is notice and withdrawal, not a gate. There is no second hidden tracker behind it, and no advertising or analytics script is loaded from a different vendor than the ones named here.
Third parties that receive a request
| Name | When it loads | Purpose and data |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js) | Every page view unless you have rejected analytics. Measurement ID G-BL158V8764, served from googletagmanager.com. | Page views, approximate location, device and browser, referrer and outbound clicks. Google receives your IP and a client identifier. We use it only to count traffic and see which guides are read; we do not enable Google Signals or ad personalization in GA4. |
| Microsoft Clarity | Every page view. Project z297h4teuy, served from clarity.ms. | Heatmaps and session recordings: clicks, scroll depth, mouse movement, and a masked recording of the page. Clarity masks text and form inputs by default. Microsoft receives your IP, device data and the pages you visit. |
| Adsterra | Every page view once the loader runs. Publisher 3403020, website 6144872, scripts from bicea.org. | Two placements: Native Banner (unit 31884405) and Social Bar (unit 31884406, the fixed strip at the bottom). Adsterra and its demand partners receive your IP, user agent and the page URL, and may set cookies to cap frequency, measure clicks and choose a creative. Adult ads are switched off for this website. |
| Google Fonts | Every page view: stylesheet from fonts.googleapis.com, font files from fonts.gstatic.com. | Renders the page in Nunito and Luckiest Guy. Google receives your IP and user agent as part of the request. No cookie is set by the stylesheet. |
| YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) | Only after you press a video thumbnail; no player iframe is in the first HTML. | Plays an official trailer in privacy-enhanced mode. Once the player starts, YouTube may set its own cookies and receive your IP and device data under Google's privacy policy. |
Cookies and localStorage keys
First-party localStorage on this site: atrpg-consent holds the consent record (fields choice, ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, analytics_storage and exp) for 180 days; atrpg-socialbar-closed holds "1" after you close the Adsterra Social Bar and stays until you clear site data. The site sets no first-party cookie of its own.
- Google Analytics 4 cookies: _ga and _ga_<container> (up to 2 years), _gid (24 hours), and _gat_gtag_<id> (1 minute). With Reject or GPC, Consent Mode denies analytics_storage and these are not written.
- Microsoft Clarity cookies: _clck (1 year) and _clsk (1 day), plus CLID, MUID, ANONCHK and SM under clarity.ms / microsoft.com. Clarity may also keep its own localStorage entry for the session. With Reject the Clarity tag is not created.
- Adsterra cookies: pip_<placement key> (about 1 day) and, on bicea.org, Cloudflare's __cf_bm bot-management cookie (about 30 minutes). Adsterra's demand partners may set additional cookies under their own domains when a creative loads. With Reject the Adsterra tags are not created.
- YouTube cookies: set by youtube-nocookie.com / google.com only after you start a player. They are not present on a page you have not played.
Retention
- The consent record is kept for 180 days and is replaced every time you choose again. The Social Bar close flag is kept until you clear site data.
- GA4 event data is retained for 14 months in the property settings; standard aggregated reports can be kept longer.
- Clarity session recordings are retained for up to 30 days; aggregated heatmap data is kept longer under Microsoft's retention settings.
- Adsterra and its partners keep their own logs and cookie data under the Adsterra privacy policy; we do not receive or store those records.
- Server request logs (IP, path, user agent, timestamp) are kept by the hosting provider for delivery and abuse prevention, then rotated.
Legal basis
- Analytics: our legitimate interest in understanding which guides are used, and consent where local law requires it. You can object at any time with Reject or GPC.
- Advertising: consent where required, otherwise the legitimate interest of funding the site; personalized advertising is only used where the law and your settings allow it. Reject withdraws it.
- Fonts and YouTube: displaying the page you asked for, and, for YouTube, your own click to start the player.
- Security and delivery logs: our legitimate interest in keeping the site online and free of abuse.
Your choices and rights
- Reject in the banner, or Cookie settings in the footer, changes the choice at any time. It is remembered for 180 days.
- Opt out of personalized Google advertising at https://adssettings.google.com/ ; opt out of participating US companies at https://optout.aboutads.info/ ; EU and UK visitors can use https://www.youronlinechoices.com/ .
- Adsterra's own privacy policy and opt-out information are at https://adsterra.com/privacy-policy/ .
- You can ask for access, correction or erasure of what we hold, or object to processing, by emailing [email protected]. We answer within 30 days. We hold no account profile to delete; clearing site data removes the local record immediately.
- If you are in the EU/UK you may complain to your supervisory authority; in the US you may contact your state attorney general where a state privacy law applies.
- Do Not Track is honored together with GPC as a rejection signal. Material changes to this policy replace the text on this URL and update the modified date.
Questions people ask
Do you sell personal data?
No. The site has no account system and no first-party profile. Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra receive request data and set their own cookies as described below; Reject stops Clarity and Adsterra and switches Google's storage off.
Do analytics and ads wait for me to press Accept?
No. They load by default on the first page view. The banner is notice plus a Reject control, not a gate: Reject turns Clarity and Adsterra off and sets Google Consent Mode to denied, and that choice is remembered for 180 days.
How do I change my choice?
Use Cookie settings in the footer. Accept stores granted. Reject stores denied. Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track is treated as Reject. Clearing site data removes the record and the next visit starts from the default again.
